The lovely Char Taylor from Taylor Hearts Travel nominated me to participate in a blog hop. It’s a chance for bloggers to show what happens behind the scenes in the blogosphere. I don’t know about you, but I’m very picky when it comes to bloggers and I love knowing where and how they work.
Here I would like to introduce a little about how I work. I’d love to hear if your blogging process is different.
Q1. What am I currently working on/writing?
As usual, I have a million things on my to-do list. I need to write a blog post for a client and I’m working on a social media strategy for a new client.
On Thursday, he will be interviewed by national media as he works on a broadcast campaign about the hidden costs of vacation. I’m looking forward to it, but I don’t like appearing on camera, so I’m going to practice in front of a mirror!
I’m finalizing the details for some upcoming trips, planning one with my boyfriend and another with a group of girlfriends. I spent most of this summer in England, so I’ll be making up for it this fall!
We’re chatting with a logo designer who’s creating a new logo for The Travel Hack. It’s about time you gave your site a proper logo, and we’ve created one that reflects the tone and style of your blog.
Then you need to actually write the blog post. I still have a lot of posts left about my recent trips to Bruges, Dominica, and Cyprus, as well as reviews of new products I’m trying out.
To stay motivated and complete tasks quickly, I break my work into 30-minute chunks. I have a love/hate relationship with this little watch.
Q2. How does my work/writing differ from others of its genre?
I aim to write blog articles that not only inspire wanderlust but also provide useful travel information. I would like readers to relive my trip for themselves. We share travel tips on everything from packing to survival guides to mini-guides to your destination.
I focus on stylish adventure travel and affordable luxury. Many travel bloggers write about budget backpacking, and many travel bloggers write about luxury travel, but what most people are looking for is the middle market. I wish I could always travel on a 5-star budget, but unfortunately my bank balances don’t match. Travel Hacks is all about affordable luxury. It’s about splurging on hotels or saving money in certain areas in order to treat yourself elsewhere while booking cheap flights.
Louis always sits on my lap while I work. I was surprised to see him typing as if he could read a book.
Q3. Why do I write what I do?
Like most people who write, I simply write because I love it. For me, there’s nothing better than spending a busy day traveling and returning to your hotel room with a cold beer and writing about everything that happened. It’s a way to process your thoughts, think about what you’ve done, and ultimately remember all the special moments. What I love most about blogging is reading my old posts and reminiscing about the fun times.
Now that I’m blogging and writing for my career, I have to keep going to pay my bills, but I’m sure I’ll keep going even if I don’t make a dime.
This is not a distraction….
Q4. How does my writing process work?
When I write blog posts, I try to write them as quickly as possible. So when I travel, I often stay up late and write on the go. I find it much easier to write when my memory is clear. I do a lot of my writing on planes and airports, then edit and fact-check when I get home.
I think you need to relax and write in a good mood. This means I write late at night, when there are no distractions or emails flying into my inbox.
i prefer to write in notebooks and type them later, but I don’t have much time for that these days, so I usually type on my laptop or iPad.
Writing a travel guide requires a lot of research and planning, and can take several days to write. If it’s a personal article, I don’t plan it out at all and just sit down and write it when the idea comes to me.
I currently have a list of about 100 blog posts and am slowly working my way through them. Some of these ideas came from a trip I took many years ago. Sometimes I wish I could just stop time for a few weeks, stay home in my pajamas, and write blog posts until I catch up!
I love having flowers on my desk. This gorgeous bundle arrived as a little surprise from one of my best friends in Australia.
To keep BlogHop going, I’m going to nominate three more bloggers to join.

I recently discovered this wonderful blog by Amanda. She is traveling with her husband and is currently in New Zealand. She loves following the blogger’s journey as she packs it all in to travel around the world

My favorite blogs these days are the ones that combine both travel and lifestyle posts, where Jess combines travel with general chat, personal thoughts, dreamy wish lists, and motivation. I love it.
