This is my honest Bundlee review based on my personal experience using Bundlee with my third baby.
When I first heard about Bundlee’s baby clothes hire, I was really excited as I’ve been saying for years that someone should set up a baby clothes and equipment hire company in the UK.
New parents spend big bucks on clothes, equipment, gadgets and accessories for their new baby, but many of these items are used in just a few weeks before being sent to charity shops. (or stored in the attic for years and eventually thrown away!)
It’s not only a waste of money, but also a huge waste of resources. We are now more aware of the environmental impact that waste has on the planet, but when I learned that these new items would soon be adding to the problem, I decided to buy lots of new things for my third baby. I felt strange about buying it.
I signed up for Bundlee a few weeks before my third baby was born. I didn’t have any baby clothes for George and Joseph (they are my two older sons) so I thought this would be a great way to dress them up nicely. I knew from experience that a newborn baby doesn’t need a lot of clothes and she will outgrow it quickly!
My honest Bundlee Review: What is Bundlee?
Well, let’s start with the basics. What is a bundle?
Bundlee is a service that allows you to rent baby clothes in bulk. If you pay a subscription fee of £24 a month or £39 a month, you’ll receive a bundle of clothes in the post.
Keep the bundle for as long as it fits your baby (at least 3 months for larger sizes) and then send it back. Then you will receive the next size automatically.
The clothes you will receive will be seasonal and you can choose between boys, girls, and unisex clothes.
The clothes are second-hand but of good quality and each item has a “Bundlee” label on it, rather than which store it came from.
Our first Bundlee bundle
I requested my first batch of girls clothes in sizes 0-3 months to arrive 3 weeks after my due date. I was expecting a pretty small baby so I thought I would be in newborn/first size clothes for about a month.
The bundle arrived on time with a Royal Mail tracked delivery and I received a text message from Royal Mail letting me know when it would arrive.
So far so good and I’ve been really impressed with the service and communication from Bundlee and Royal Mail.
All the clothes were clean, new, and ironed, but unfortunately they didn’t impress me at all.
Our Bundlee review – The clothes
We wanted this service to be great, but it wasn’t quite there yet.
Most items were of high quality, but some items were a bit shabby. All I needed were the basic items, but since I didn’t have an actual costume, I had to go shopping for a lot of clothes.
I had a nice little pink top with black polka dots, but I didn’t have any tights or leggings to go with it. In other words, if I wanted Alba to wear this, I would have to go out of my way to buy something that matches this top, but wouldn’t that take away from the meaning of Bandori?
The items in the Bundlee bundle were the kind of items you would buy in a multipack at the supermarket. Something like a 5-pack of vests, a 5-pack of sleepsuits, and 3-4 basic leggings and tops.
But this bundle didn’t even have enough vests. I only had a few outfits in my bundle so I had to go buy more vests.
My biggest disappointment with Bundlee, and one of the reasons for Bundlee’s negative reviews, was that the majority of the clothes were boys’ clothes. Now, I’m not a girly girl so I’m not going to dress Alba in pink from head to toe. Many of her clothes are unisex, which is fine, but some of these items are clearly boys’ clothes and I wouldn’t buy such dark colors for a baby girl. When I requested the bundle to be girls’ clothes, I felt this was a hassle. If I had chosen “unisex,” things would have been different.
Feedback
I think the idea behind this is great. It had a lot of potential to be great, but it wasn’t quite there yet.
I think the service is much better if you rent 4-5 complete costumes than a half-baked set of basic items. I hate to say it, but basic items are cheap!
Should you use Bundlee?
Like I said, I was really hoping this would be a good one and a great bundle review, but personally I’ve found much better used baby and children’s clothing on Facebook Marketplace. I found a bundle for you. For £20-30 you can find a set of baby clothes for 0-3 months that includes all the clothes you need. If you manage to keep it in good condition, you can sell the clothes or donate them to a friend or charity shop.
