There are two things every traveler is worried about this summer. It’s the coronavirus and cancellations!
The news is full of stories of people missing out on much-needed vacations due to airport delays and flight cancellations.
Not only are you worried about cancellations and delays, but with coronavirus cases on the rise again, it could also ruin your vacation.
But don’t let that put you off from booking your international trip!
The reality is that the majority of travelers have arrived at their vacation destinations (eventually!) and we all have to live with the coronavirus. While we cannot postpone our holidays any longer, there is no denying that there is still a lot of uncertainty around traveling from the UK.
If you’re traveling abroad this summer, there’s one thing you’ll definitely need. It’s good travel insurance.
Make sure you have COVID-19 cover, not only for medical costs if you contract COVID-19 abroad, but also in case you have to cancel your holiday if you or someone in your household has to self-isolate must be received.
There are so many people infected with coronavirus in our area that as a family of five we feel there is a very high chance that someone will be infected with coronavirus before we go on vacation. We’re going on vacation on Sunday so I’m a little nervous!
You should also know that you are covered in case of delays or cancellations. What do you do if your flight is delayed for a long time and it’s not worth going on vacation? You need to know that you’re covered even in that situation!
I’m planning a weekend trip to Valencia next month. Since we booked everything separately, we were worried that our flight would be delayed. If the delay is more than 12 hours, it’s not worth going and I’d like to know if I can get compensation!
Cedar Tree
I don’t know about you, but I think travel insurance is an absolute minefield. These complex and wordy documents can be very confusing, making it difficult to understand what you will actually be covered.
So this time I would like to introduce you to the cedar tree.
I just purchased Cedar Tree’s annual family travel insurance, and for the first time, I found it easy to purchase travel insurance. I knew exactly what I was getting and my policy wasn’t overly verbose. So I often wondered if things were hidden within those 100 pages of terms and conditions!
It was very easy and I was relieved to know that I was covered not only for COVID-19 but also for cancellations and delays. I also have a gadget cover, a winter sports cover, and a cruise cover (hoping for at least one cruise and ski holiday in the next 12 months!)
Cedar Tree is not very expensive compared to other travel insurance options. Single trip insurance for a long weekend costs around £7. Considering the peace of mind this policy provides, we think it’s worth it.
Cedar Tree Covid Cover
Cedar Tree Covid Cover provides guaranteed Covid coverage as standard. This includes up to £15 million in costs if you contract coronavirus while on holiday, as well as other costs (much more likely!)
- You will not be able to board your flight at the airport because symptoms of the new coronavirus have been detected
- If you are infected with COVID-19 or another pandemic disease and are unable to travel
- You or your family must self-isolate at home and cannot travel
- During your trip, you are required to return home due to pandemic travel restrictions that were not in effect before your trip
- You are scheduled to travel, but the country you are traveling to has introduced a quarantine period on arrival and you do not wish to travel and would like to cancel your holiday
- If you are infected with the new coronavirus while abroad, you will be covered even if you have been vaccinated. You will also be compensated if you are fired and are unable to travel.
Cedar Tree’s aim is to help vacationers travel with peace of mind and be confident that they will be compensated for any unforeseen disruptions caused by current travel issues.
Cedar Tree Cancellations Cover
With Cedar Tree, delays are compensated. Plus, you’ll be compensated if you abandon your vacation due to a 12-hour delay (which you probably will if it’s a short weekend getaway)
In the event of a delay, you will be compensated for any additional costs incurred until reaching your destination.
You are also entitled to compensation if your flight is delayed.
Brexit travel
Oh yeah, there’s one more thing to keep in mind while traveling!
With Brexit, Brits will no longer be able to use EHICs for their medical needs, so travelers will need to take out travel insurance to avoid high medical costs.
In addition to medical insurance, Cedar Tree’s policies also ensure you have a safe return home should you need to be repatriated to the UK.
The other standard travel insurance things..
And, of course, standard elements such as lost baggage, canceled flights or accommodation, lost passport and any additional costs incurred thereby are also covered. Huh!
Cedar Tree App
I also really like that they have a Cedar Tree app that allows you to easily access your insurance policy documents and make a claim.
I usually save my emails in my email and was wondering how someone would access this if an accident were to happen!
The Cedar Tree Club
At Cedar Tree Club, you have access to a variety of member benefits. There are offers and discounts on luxury experiences, movie tickets, adventure activities, and food and wine subscription boxes. Many of them are offers that you can find elsewhere on the internet, but it’s nice to have them all in one place.
