Weekend Reads #10 – The Travel Hack

Weekend Reading #10 - Travel Hacks

Hello, it’s a fun Friday! I am writing this from the sea while sailing from Mykonos to Istanbul. This week I traveled on Celebrity Cruises. We started in Venice on Monday, followed by Dubrovnik, Mykonos, and finally Istanbul today.

We have a great time not only at our destination but also on board. It’s like a floating city. I still find hidden bars, cafes, shops and places to relax.

Wednesday was the perfect opportunity to spend the day at the beach, relax and update your favorite blogs. Here are some of our favorites from this week and updates on our next trip.

An uneasy arrival in the Maldives {Endless footsteps}

I’ve been obsessed with Maldives photography for years and it’s firmly on my list of “dream destinations.” The only problem is that it’s expensive and I don’t want to be stuck in a resort and not be able to go out and explore freely. Lauren and her boyfriend Dave took a solo trip to the Maldives on a budget. It’s not an easy trip to organize, but so far it’s been going well. What a cliffhanger!

Swing at the end of the world, Ecuador {World of words}

Who else is too scared to bungee jump or skydive? You are not alone. I went skydiving when I was younger and honestly, it was the scariest moment of my life. But this swing looks like the perfect option for stubborn cats who still want an adrenaline-filled ride. Don’t let the adrenaline get too high! Delia talks about the End of the World Swing in Ecuador. It was incredible and this is another thing I’ve added to my bucket list forever.

This is for boys and girls. Girls, you’ve got drool-worthy eye candy, and guys, you’ve got some serious fashion inspiration. There are thousands of amazing female fashion bloggers out there, but men don’t have nearly as many to check out for style and outfit tips. I can’t quite imagine my boyfriend imitating Brian Boy (shorts, sandals, man bags), but there’s a blogger for everyone. (For a tall, dark, handsome and fashionable look, check out the super stylish Adam Gallagher).

A spooky weekend at Bram Stoker Festival in Dublin {Travel Hack!}

Since I’m going to the Bram Stoker Festival in Dublin again this year, I thought I’d include one of my older posts from the trip I took last October. Because it was so amazing. The entire city becomes a giant, spooky playground to celebrate Bram Stoker and all things vampire related. Bram Stoker, the author of Dracula, was born in Dublin, so there are many connections to blood-sucking stories. I loved the atmosphere last year when we visited Dracula’s Garden of Fire inside the castle, watched a horror movie in the cathedral, and attended a spooky banquet in the cathedral’s crypt. Dublin is a wonderful city. Even better if you can visit during the festival!

Secret Menu {Hack Menu}

I first learned about the concept of a “secret menu” when I visited In-N-Out Burger on my Trek America tour. Yes, there is a delicious temptation hidden behind the counter that is not advertised and only known to a select few. I’m not usually a fan of fast food, but sometimes I have to. When you’re hungover and drunk. Take a look at our secret menus from the biggest fast food restaurants for a new alternative to the standard ordering option.

Next week’s travels

This week I’ve been cruising around Europe, and next week I’m flying to Egypt for a luxury all-inclusive vacation. I haven’t been to an all inclusive since I was 17 so I don’t know how to find one. I’m going with my boyfriend so they have lots of activities to keep us entertained, but I’m really looking forward to relaxing and soaking up the sun. Check out my Instagram photos to see how I’m doing.

Happy journey!
