Welcome to a new series of The Travel Hack. In this series, I’ll be giving you a sneak peek into the cabin cases of some of my favorite bloggers.
This is partly to celebrate the launch of The Travel Hack Cabin Case, but also because I’m super nosy and want to peek inside their cases and discover their top packing hacks and favorite products.
This series starts with two of my favorite bloggers, Yaya and Lloyd from Hand Luggage Only. I’ve been a huge fan of their blog for years, ever since I discovered them on Bloglovin’. They seemingly came out of nowhere and made travel blogs famous thanks to their gorgeous photography, friendly writing style, and shareable posts. I had been stalking them for over a year until I finally met them during a press trip to Menorca. But after stalking them so many times, I felt like I knew them and had the best time exploring that gorgeous little island with them. They are just as fun, friendly and nice as they appear in the videos and I can confirm they are such great people to travel with!
So, let’s take a look inside the cabin case. Spoiler alert: They don’t just travel with hand luggage!
Do you usually travel with checked luggage or just hand luggage?
Ok – you caught us! Our blog may be called “baggage only”, but we do travel with checked baggage (sometimes). Now, I’d like to say this is because you need all your camera equipment, tripods, etc. (which is true in some places), but sometimes you just want to pack an inflatable unicorn to relax by the pool.
What 5 things do you always have in your cabin case? (other than your passport, phone, wallet and chargers)
Yes, we always have a reusable water bottle to refill at the airport, especially if it’s a long-haul flight. This means you won’t have to get up every 10 minutes to get a flimsy glass of water, which can be a hassle on a 12-hour flight. I also carry an iPad with me so I can watch Netflix and draw maps for my blog, and I always pack pajama bottoms so I can relax on long flights.
I also pack earplugs in my bag. It also includes a lip balm, especially for night flights and to combat the dryness of air conditioning.
If you could magically design something that makes travelling easier, what would it be?
Get a bed that’s not as cheap as business class.
Do you have any packing hacks?
Pack light, make sure you have all the essentials, and plan for the worst and know that if you forget something small, you might have to go to the store.
What’s your top tip to stay stylish while you travel?
Sunscreen! Lloyd always ends up looking like a lobster in sunny places. No amount of styling will help if he looks like a tomato. Ha!
Do you have any items of clothing you always travel with?
Swimsuit. It doesn’t matter if your destination is cold or hot, you never know if you’ll have a chance to take a quick swim somewhere.
What’s your next travel destination?
We’re off to Bali as we speak!
If you aren’t already following us, we highly recommend visiting our Instagram @handluggageonly to see our latest photos from Bali. It looks gorgeous too!
